In Florida criminal law, “Manufacture” is a term defined by statute rather than by its everyday meaning. Its statutory definition — quoted verbatim below — controls how the term is applied throughout the Florida criminal code.
What does “Manufacture” mean in Florida criminal law?
“Manufacture” means replication of the physical optical disc or production of the master used in any optical disc replication process, but does not include the manufacture of optical discs for internal use, testing, or review or blank optical discs.(c) “Optical disc” means a disc capable of being read by a laser or other light source on which data is stored in digital form, including, but not limited to, discs known as compact discs, recordable compact discs, and digital video discs.(d) “Identification mark” means the name of the manufacturer and the state in which the disc was manufactured, o (Fla. Stat. § 817.5615)
