Verified criminal-defense firms, held to a published standard
US Criminal Defense is two things: a public reference to the criminal statutes in force in each state, and a directory of the criminal-defense firms that practice under them. A firm marked as verified has had its bar license and standing checked against the state bar's own records and is confirmed to primarily practice criminal defense — so anyone using this directory can tell which firms have been vetted.
What verification means
Verification is the trust layer of this directory. Before a firm carries the verified mark, we confirm:
- An active bar license. Confirmed against the licensing records of the state bar the firm practices in.
- Good standing. No active disciplinary suspension or revocation at the time of verification.
- A criminal-defense practice. The firm primarily practices criminal defense — not a general practice that takes the occasional case.
- Kept current. Verification is re-checked on a schedule; a firm that falls out of good standing loses the mark.
The Trusted mark adds a further bar: a minimum verified client-review rating and review count, drawn from the firm's connected review sources. These standards are published, applied the same way to every firm, and disclosed on each listing.
How a firm is listed

Every criminal-defense firm appears with its name, city, and county. Shown as an unclaimed profile, and plainly marked as not yet verified until the firm claims it.
A claimed, verified profile — free. Bar license and good standing confirmed, contact details, hours, and attorney roster added. This is where the verified mark begins.
Trusted
A verified firm that also meets the published review standard. Listed above the free entries in its county and practice areas, with a followed link to the firm's own site.
County · PracticeThe exclusive Authority position — one firm per county and practice area — with attributed material built from the firm's own work, each piece linking back to the firm.
Why the marks are worth trusting
The reference earns its citations because it is neutral, sourced, and current. Firms that pay never appear on the statute, charge, or concept pages — that separation is deliberate, and it is what keeps both the reference and the verified marks credible. A listing is a verified fact about a firm, disclosed plainly; it is never a recommendation of one firm over another.
