In Florida criminal law, “Official rating” is a term defined by statute rather than by its everyday meaning. Its statutory definition — quoted verbatim below — controls how the term is applied throughout the Florida criminal code.

What does “Official rating” mean in Florida criminal law?

“Official rating” means an official rating of the Motion Picture Association of America, and the Film Advisory Board, Inc., or any other official rating organization.(b) “Person” means an individual, corporation, partnership, or any other legal or commercial entity.(c) “Video movie” means a videotape or video disc copy of a motion picture film. (Fla. Stat. § 847.202)
