What does “Oocyte” mean in Iowa criminal law?

“Oocyte” means a human ovum. 4. “Somatic cell nuclear transfer” means a technique in which the nucleus of a human somatic cell is injected or transplanted into a fertilized or unfertilized oocyte from which the nucleus has been removed. (Iowa Code § 707C.3)
