1. A proceeding under this chapter shall be held in accordance with the rules of civil procedure, except as otherwise set forth in this chapter and in chapter 664A, and is in addition to any other civil or criminal remedy. 2. The plaintiff’s right to relief under this chapter is not affected by leaving the residence or household to avoid domestic abuse.
