1. Prior to pronouncement of judgment and sentence pursuant to section 901.5, or prior to pleading guilty for an offense that does not require a court appearance, the defendant shall provide the defendant’s social security number to the clerk of the district court or the court. 2. The clerk of the district court shall duly note the social security number in the case file. 3. The defendant’s social security number shall be considered a confidential record exempted from public access under section 22.7, but shall be disclosed by the clerk of the district court for the limited purpose of collecting court debt pursuant to section 602.8107. 4. Failure or refusal to provide a social security number pursuant to this section shall not delay the pronouncement of judgment and sentence pursuant to section 901.5.
