(a) Each county attorney shall attend the terms of court for trial courts other than district courts in the attorney's county and represent the state in all criminal cases under examination or prosecution in that county. (b) In the absence of the district attorney, the county attorney shall represent the state alone and, when requested by the district attorney, shall aid the district attorney in prosecuting a case in behalf of the state in district court. (c) The county attorney shall represent the state in the appeal of a case prosecuted by the county attorney.
