(a) A victim or witness who wants notification under this subchapter must: (1) provide the department, the sheriff, or the community supervision and corrections department supervising the defendant, as appropriate, with the e-mail address, mailing address, and telephone number of the victim, witness, or other person through whom the victim or witness may be contacted; and (2) notify the appropriate department or the sheriff of any change of address or telephone number of the victim, witness, or other person. (b) Information obtained and maintained by the department, a sheriff, or a community supervision and corrections department under this article is privileged and confidential.
