(a) Money in the fund may be used only as provided by this chapter and is not available for any other purpose. (b) Except as provided by Subsection (d) and Articles 56B.455 , 56B.458 , 56B.459 , and 56B.460 , the fund may be used only by the attorney general to pay compensation to claimants or victims under this chapter. (c) For purposes of Subsection (b), compensation to claimants or victims includes money allocated from the fund to the Crime Victims' Institute created by Section 96.65 , Education Code, for the operation of the institute and for other expenses in administering this chapter. The institute shall use money allocated from the fund only for the purposes of Sections 96.65 , 96.651 , and 96.652 , Education Code. (d) The attorney general may use the fund to: (1) reimburse a health care provider or a sexual assault examiner or sexual assault nurse examiner for certain costs of a forensic medical examination that are incurred by the provider or the examiner under Subchapter G , Chapter 56A ; and (2) make a payment to or on behalf of a victim of a sexual assault for the reasonable costs incurred for medical care provided under Subchapter G , Chapter 56A , as described by Article 56A.305 .
