(a) If a protective order contains the address or telephone number of a person protected by the order, of the place of employment or business of the person, or of the child-care facility or school of a child protected by the order and that information is not confidential under Section 85.007 , the person protected by the order may file a notification of change of address or telephone number with the court that rendered the order to modify the information contained in the order. (a-1) On request by a person protected by an order, the court shall keep confidential the changed address or telephone number in the notification described by Subsection (a). On granting a request for confidentiality under this subsection, the court shall order the clerk to maintain a confidential record of the information as described by Section 85.007 (b)(2) and exclude that information from the notification. If the applicant seeks to keep confidential the applicant's mailing address, the applicant must: (1) disclose the applicant's mailing address and county of residence to the court; (2) designate a person to receive on behalf of the applicant any notice or documents filed with the court related to the order; and (3) disclose the designated person's mailing address to the court. (b) The clerk of the court shall attach the notification of change to the protective order and shall deliver a copy of the notification to: (1) the respondent by registered or certified mail as provided by Rule 21a, Texas Rules of Civil Procedure; and (2) any other person entitled to a copy of the order under Section 85.042 . (c) The filing of a notification of change of address or telephone number and the attachment of the notification to a protective order does not affect the validity of the order.
