(a) The review board shall review research proposals submitted and medical case histories of persons recommended for participation in a research program and determine which research programs and persons are most suitable for the therapy and research purposes of the program. The review board shall approve the research programs, certify program participants, and conduct periodic reviews of the research and participants. (b) The review board, after approval of the executive commissioner, may seek authorization to expand the research program to include diseases not covered by this subchapter. (c) The review board shall maintain a record of all persons in charge of approved research programs and of all persons who participate in the program as researchers or as patients. (d) The executive commissioner may terminate the distribution of tetrahydrocannabinols and their derivatives to a research program as the executive commissioner determines necessary.
