What does “Electronic storage” mean in Utah criminal law?

"Electronic storage" means: (9)(a) any temporary intermediate storage of a wire or electronic communication incident to the electronic transmission of it; and (9)(b) any storage of the communication by an electronic communications service for the purposes of backup protection of the communication. (Utah Code Ann. § 77-23a-3)
