What does “Serious injury” mean in Utah criminal law?
"Serious injury" means an injury or set of injuries that: (1)(a)(iv)(A)(I) seriously impairs the child's health, which includes the child's physical or mental well-being or development; (1)(a)(iv)(A)(II) causes serious emotional harm to the child; or (1)(a)(iv)(A)(III) involves a substantial risk of death to the child. (Utah Code Ann. § 76-5-109)
