Va. Code Ann. § 18.2-166Primary source, current through the 2026 Regular Session
Any person: (1) Who is an employee of a telephone company, or an employee of a company which prints or otherwise handles lists of telephone customers for a telephone company and who discloses to another the names, addresses, or telephone numbers of any two or more customers of telephone service, knowing that such disclosure is without the consent of the telephone company furnishing said service; or (2) Who knowingly induces such an employee to make such disclosure by giving, offering, or promising to such employee any gift, gratuity, or thing of value, or by doing or promising to do any act beneficial to such employee; or (3) Who takes, copies, or compiles any list containing the aforesaid information knowing that such conduct is without the consent of the telephone company furnishing said service; or (4) Who attempts, aids or abets another, or conspires with another, to commit any of the aforesaid acts, shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.
